Kaleb Brooksher
Kaleb Brooksher's zentangle utilizes negative space in a unique way. Look carefully - the hidden images throughout the composition of his drawing make this piece exceptionally interesting.

Zach, Willy, and Tyler collaborated to make a giant origami boat. It has yet to be tested for buoyancy.

7th Hour Drawing

Shontay Robinson
Zach VanBecelaere

Greetings, everyone!

With parent-teacher conferences last week, everyone was pretty busy. Things are starting to calm down again (knock on wood).

Thanks to everyone who came out to conferences! It was great to meet so many families. As always, parents and guardians, if you have any questions or concerns about your child's progress in Art, please don't hesitate to call (620-235-3200 ext. 605) or e-mail me!

I'm really excited about what's happening in the Art Dept! Intro to Art students are about to start blended crayon drawings that will build upon their prior knowledge of color theory. Adaptive Art students have been learning how to make pinch pots from model magic as well as create nonobjective watercolor and ink paintings. Shaping Lives students are beginning a unit on color theory. Drawing students will be working on three different self-portraits - a proportion study, a representational self-portrait, and a conceptual self-portrait.

Don't forget to join Art Club! We're hoping to create artwork, take trips, participate in community art events, and generally do some of the things beyond the scope of what we can offer in class. Sign up sheets are on the doors of Mrs. Lomshek's room, Ms. Colyer's room, and my room. We'll keep you posted in class about meeting times and dates as they are set.

More to come!
Blackout poems by Shaping Lives students. Awesome!
his head-to-head debates can't win our ears
It's wise to keep friends along for the ride
we're limited
we just expect the worst
time to enjoy a brighter future to focus on
care for all
