Love the expression in this subtractive drawing by Matt Tallie.

These awesome landscapes were made by students in adaptive art class. In this project, we talked about horizon line and foreground and background. Students painted the background in watercolor, then created the foreground by first painting with acrylic paint and then collaging the branches and leaves.

Subtractive Drawings
Students in both 4th and 7th hour drawing classes have been hard at work on their subtractive drawings. They started by covering the paper with a coat of loose charcoal, then began drawing with their erasers and looked for highlights and shadows. Students chose their own subject matter for this assignment. So far, I've been really impressed with the drawings. Keep up the great work, everyone!
